jj - n°4 (2012)

Label: Sincerely Yours (YOURS0182)
Genre: electronic pop, balearic beat
Released: 9 May 2012
Origin: Gothenburg, Sweden
Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?owid949qqgfw429
Bitrate: mp3 VBR V0

A new seven inch from jj, jj n°4, was released last week. I didn't really like it when i first heard it, but revisiting it today i must say i quite enjoy it. It's not as good as previous releases and it is only a seven inch, yet i'm very happy about any new jj tunes and these are not bad by any means. the a-side is called beautiful life and has a great balearic feel to it, reminiscent of jj n°2, while the b-side burn sounds more like n°3 with use of piano and focus on the vocals.

Bay B Kane - Jungle Love (2011)

Label: Junglist Manifesto (JMLP02)
Genre: drum n bass, jungle influenced, doesn't sound like 2011
Released: 21 June 2011
Origin: London, east end
Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?yybkca2ioa65r11
Bitrate: mp3 CBR 320 kbps

Well here is a sweet dnb release that passed me by last year. I didn't even think there were this good stuff being made in the 2010s, but Bay B Kane's LP Jungle Love brings some unforgettable tunes and 1996 vibes. This, together with his Brick Jungle LP also released in 2011(which i have not been able to get hold of, send me a message if you know more please!) marks his return from a 13 year hiatus and they certainly do it in big style. Definitely check this out if you are into dnb/jungle!

Current 93 - An Introduction to Suffering (1999)

Label: Durtro
Genre: Apocalyptic Neo-Folk
Released: 1999
Website: http://brainwashed.com/c93/

Current 93 is a British experimental folk band consisting of  David Tibet and a gang of contributors, most notably Steven Stapleton (Nurse with Wound) and Michael Cashmore. This album is a compilation, with the songs being somewhat different out-takes of old songs from previous albums.
I would the describe the music on this bad boy as a folky acoustic spoken-word poetry enhanced feel with an  apocalyptic vibe, and lyrics taken from the spiritual world. It is a great album for those who want to get into Current 93, but also for all those who appreciates something new.
Here is a "new", beautiful, magical piece of art.

Swedish rock band Kent released their tenth album yesterday, and it features a different direction than their past two albums, returning to the lesser use of electronics. This style change brought with it some dumb chart-poppy choruses, which makes this not sound like their previous albums either, but it's not bad anyway. Check it out if you are familiar with their previous work, or if you generally enjoy rock with pop influences.

Zukavicz - Food for Men and Animals (2012)

 Label: Self-released on bandcamp
Genre: Progressive Rock / electronic, instrumental (I'm not even sure)
Released: 22 Jan 2012
Origin: Nashville
Buy: see bandcamp link below
Link: http://jeffreydonmiller.bandcamp.com/releases (no e-mail required for free download, option to pay what you want)
Mediafire (back-up): http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?bo0ng2shbdf7d7g
Bitrate: FLAC, 320, v0 etc. (your own choice). The Mediafire link is v0.

This is the new release from Nashville's Jeffrey Don Miller aka. Zukavicz, called Food for Men and Animals. It's a complete solo effort(Tristan McNatt made the cover artwork though), and the music sounds like an instrumental hybrid of electronic rock and progressive rock. These genres aren't my  areas of expertise, so bear with me if I am all wrong.

Earth - Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light I (2011) & 2 (2012)

Label: Southern Lord Records
Genre: (a distinct variation of) Psychedelic Rock, Drone, Ambient
Released: 22 Feb 2011, and 6 Feb 2012 respectively
Origin: Seattle
Links: Angels of Darkness..., 1 http://www.mediafire.com/?q7akpe6m1uvw7zo
Angels of Darkness..., 2 http://www.mediafire.com/?l3tlybm3yzqb209
Bitrate: mp3 320 CBR and mp3 v0 VBR respectively

The pioneering American drone doom band Earth released the sequel to their amazing 2011 release Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light a few of days ago (tomorrow according to some sources, i'm not entirely sure).

Both of the albums feature a type of psychedelic rock that is very slow and "droney" and a very gloomy feeling. Dylan Carson and Adrienne Davies have created some of the darkest sounding tracks that i've heard in quite some time, and the plagued sounds of guest musician Lori Goldston's cello only solidifies the emotions brought out by these releases. I personally think that the tracks on the first of the two releases were a tiny bit stronger, but I suggest you listen to both albums in order and see for yourself.

Coil - Horse Rotorvator (1986)

Label: Force & Form
Genre: Industrial, Dark Ambient
Released: 1986/87'

British Experimental band Coil were formed 1982 by late John Balance and Peter Christopherson, both who left us all too soon. John, who previously had collaborated with Psychic TV (where Peter too was active some time), would later work together with key industrial acts such as Current 93 and Nine Inch Nails. Peter had, previous to Coil, been active with Throbbing Gristle, releasing the classic 20 Jazz Funk Greats in 79'.
The sound on Horse Rotorvator I can only describe as a more sharp and clear one, compared to earlier work by the two, the atmosphere seems more enjoyable and fresh compared to for an example 20 Jazz Funk Greats. It is a fun record listening to and I hope you enjoy it.
